There is so much of victim blaming we do. One of the fancy example of it is blaming the victim that it is inappropriate of him to think himself as a victim in first place and crying foul with the victim card. Say for example when a girl claims that there is not enough equality, it is often mistaken that she is playing victim card just because she thinks of herself very low. The same happens when a person points out his caste or community as a reason for his no-so-fair treatment in the society.
Though it sounds cool to be always positive all the time and never think pessimistic, especially when there is social progress, It is equally important to remember the place we are in now to keep marching towards the place we strive to achieve.
I remember an incident from Nelson mandela's biography. Once Mandela was flying from one country to another on his mission to acquire enough support for South Africa's freedom. Mandela, the man who we know as the one who eradicated Apartheid system in south Africa happened to see a Black man being his pilot. For a moment he actually doubted whether a black man could fly a plane. He was quick to discard the thought and cursed himself for having allowed such thoughts in first place. It is seen as the influence the negativity of people around us can make in our thought process even if we have perseverance as big as himalayas.
How we can only blame the awful Racism for the above scenario, it is true that only the wrong social practices have to be blamed as it is basic psychology that any person can be put down by just cultivating negativity and subjecting them to grave inequalities.
More than the victim card it is these unfortunate victim situations that need to be uprooted. After all we are all not Mandelas to always surround ourself with positivity even if it is being 27years in jail for fighting for our basic rights.
